The first step is a standard blood draw. Your blood is then processed to concentrate the growth factors, creating a serum to inject and trigger natural skin and hair regeneration.

PRP is rich in growth factors and stem cells. As the PRP enters the tissues, it sends a signal to the skin to regenerate and repair. At Balinger Plastic Surgery, our PRP treatments are performed with the most stringent health and safety protocols.

We ensure our patients feel comfortable, safe, and cared for throughout every treatment. Dr. Balinger and his team of medical professionals are certified, experienced, and believe every patient deserves a customized, personalized treatment delivered by a supportive provider who genuinely cares.

PRP injections – is it right for you?

PRP injections can enhance your skin and tissues, as well as triggering natural hair growth during the early stages of balding. You are likely a good candidate for this advanced regenerative treatment if:

  • You are in good overall health
  • You want to experience the regenerative effect of PRP injections
  • Your hair is thinning, and your hair strands are thinner and weaker
  • You want a non-surgical treatment that works
  • You understand the treatment and the results you can expect

Some people are not good candidates for PRP injections, but Dr. Balinger offers a wide array of regenerative treatments, and can advise you about the alternatives. Those who should not undergo PRP injections include:

  • Pregnant women
  • Those with anemia
  • You take certain medications (blood thinners), and it would be unsafe to stop treatment
  • You have a bleeding or blood disorder
  • It is contraindicated due to a condition or disease

Dr. Balinger ensures that every patient he treats with PRP injections is safe for the procedure.

What are the growth factors in PRP?

PRP has a high concentration of “growth factors.” These are a naturally occurring substance that is known to trigger new cell growth. When injected into the skin, they send a signal to the area to regenerate naturally. Growth factors are known to:

  • Stimulate natural collagen production
  • Promote healthy cell growth
  • Repair tissues
  • Stimulates healing and natural skin regeneration
  • Promotes the growth of new blood vessels

PRP therapy and you

The first step is to meet with Dr. Balinger to discuss what you hope to achieve and find out if PRP therapy is the best approach for you. He will answer all your questions and evaluate your skin and hair to determine if this treatment will achieve what you envision.

The PRP injection experience

The process starts with a blood draw, just as you would expect at the doctor. The drawn blood is then processed in a centrifuge to separate the healing PRP from the other blood products. This takes about ten minutes.

After the PRP is created, it is loaded into a special needle and injected into the area to be treated. Some people choose to undergo microneedling followed by applying the PRP to enhance the results.

After your PRP therapy

After the injections, you can expect some swelling and bruising at the injection sites, with minor discomfort, easily controlled with over-the-counter medication. Apply cold compresses to help reduce swelling. The rejuvenation effect of the PRP will appear over time, with your skin becoming firmer, more resilient, and more youthful as the days and weeks pass. Nothing is more beautiful than naturally firm, healthy skin, and PRP injections could be the ideal way to help your skin look and feel soft, firm, and supple.
