BOTOX

This is a type of drug that is produced by bacteria and fashioned by plastic surgeons to address a wide range of cosmetic issues. BOTOX® injections help alleviate the appearance of facial wrinkles, but may also be used to treat chronic migraines, misaligned eyes, an overactive bladder, and other disorders. BOTOX® basically works by paralyzing certain muscles or blocking specific nerves. This prevents contraction of the targeted muscle, leading to relaxing and softening of wrinkles.  A single BOTOX® infection can last for up to 12 months, depending on the area being treated. After this time, you will need to have another injection in order to maintain the results of your treatment.

Juvederm

This is a collection of hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers that are designed for use in areas of the face. Juvéderm® Voluma XC is specifically used to return youthful contours to the cheeks, smoothen ‘parentheses’ lines around the nose and mouth, and iron out lines appearing on the corners of the mouth. Juvéderm® Ultra XC is typically used to plump up lips, while Juvéderm® Volbella XC is ideal for softening vertical lip lines. Most juvederm dermal fillers are treated with an anesthetic called lidocaine to ensure patient comfort.

Just like Juvéderm®, this is an injectable dermal filler that treats various problem areas. There are several different types of Restylane®. Restylane® Lyft is a thicker gel that helps correct severe nasolabial folds and wrinkles. It will also restore lost volume to the cheeks and back of the hands. Restylane® Silk is another variation of this dermal filler that is intended to enhance the appearance of lips. Injections with restylane may also help trigger collagen production.

Sculptra

This injectable filler can help restore volume in the cheeks, fill up sunken or hollow areas in the face, as well as improve the appearance of facial lines and folds. Sculptra® is based on poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic compound that stimulates collagen formation. Several treatments – spaced about six weeks apart – will be required in order to achieve a noticeable improvement. Keep in mind that while Sculptra® is a great option for reversing the effects of facial aging, it cannot be injected in the lips or around the eyes.

Radiesse

This injectable filler contains calcium hydroxylapatite, a mineral that is naturally occuring in human teeth and bones. These calcium particles are usually very tiny and suspended in a gel-like solution. When injected beneath the skin, radiesse helps restore lost volume. A key target area for this treatment is moderate-to-severe nasolabial folds. Radiesse may also be used to plump up your cheeks and enhance facial contours. This injectable cannot be used on the lips.

Belotero

This is a line of dermal fillers that help smooth out folds and lines in facial skin. Belotero contains hyaluronic acid that works as a magnet for moisture, thus helping your skin stay hydrated and appear smooth. Common treatment areas for this injectable filler include the cheeks, lips, nose, chin, and around the eyes.

Kybella

This is a dermal filler that is administered in a series of treatments under the chin. The goal is to destroy fat cells and result in reduced fullness within the treatment area. Kybella® contains synthetic deoxycholic acid, which helps break down and absorb dietary fat. Once the targeted cells in the treatment area have been destroyed, they can no longer accumulate fat. This means that no further treatments will be required once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.
