What is a thread lift treatment?
A thread lift uses temporary sutures to produce a subtle but visible "lift" in the skin. Instead of surgically removing your loose facial skin, Dr. Balinger suspends it by stitching up portions to pull the skin back slightly and lifting and tightening the face. Threads also initiate the body's "healing response" and causes the body to direct increased collagen to treated areas. This is important because of collagen's vital role in the aging process.
As we age, our bodies gradually produce less collagen causing an 80% reduction in skin thickness by about age 70. This loss of volume and strength creates excess skin and wrinkles. Infusing facial skin with fresh collagen while the signs of skin laxity are still mild can help reduce looseness and prevent it from getting worse.
Thread lift treatments provide ongoing and progressive rejuvenation for the facial tissues. Patients with a thread lift notice a gradual improvement in their skin tone and firmness. Because the threads placed under the skin during a thread lift are so fine, most people cannot feel their sutures once the skin has healed around them.
