What should I expect with Juvéderm treatment?

Juvéderm hyaluronic acid fillers contain lidocaine, a topical anesthetic to make treatment more comfortable. If you are still concerned, you may request a topical numbing cream to be applied before your injections. Your injector may administer the first injection, then wait until sensation has subsided to administer the next injection. Your injector may massage the treated area slightly to distribute the filler more evenly.

There is little or no downtime with Juvéderm injections. You may return to your normal activities within 24 hours. Makeup can be applied immediately after treatment to cover any bruising at the injection sites. Temporary side effects may also include tenderness, swelling, lumps, bumps, or pain.

FAQ

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a substance occurring naturally in the body. It attracts moisture and adds volume to the skin. HA provides a structure for collagen and elastin and is responsible for hydration. It has also been shown to speed wound healing, relieve joint pain, and relieve dry eyes. Modified hyaluronic acid is the main ingredient in Juvéderm products.

How does hyaluronic acid work in Juvéderm fillers?

Many skincare products contain hyaluronic acid today. However, HA works best beneath the surface of the skin, where Juvéderm dermal fillers are injected. It supports skin structure in the deeper layers. Hyaluronic acid can attract and hold more than 1000 times its weight in moisture. When injected under the skin, it helps retain moisture and helps support proteins, such as collagen.

How long does Juvéderm last in the cheeks?

Juvéderm Voluma was designed specifically to add volume and lift to recontour the cheek area. It provides natural-looking results that can last for up to two years. This filler is also approved for adding volume to the chin.
