Belotero®
Houston, TX

Production of collagen, elastin, and other natural support structures that keep our skin youthful diminishes as we age. This often leads to less than appealing facial lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging.

Belotero® Balance is a unique dermal filler that helps address mild-to-moderate wrinkles and lines on the face. This treatment is commonly used to alleviate fine lines around the lips, mouth, and under the eyes. Men and women who undergo this aesthetic treatment have a better self-image and increase self-esteem.

Ideal Candidate for Belotero®?

Belotero® is a hyaluronic acid based dermal filler that replaces lost facial volume and stimulates collagen production to result in firmer and smoother facial skin. You may be an ideal candidate for Belotero® balance if:

  • You are in good general health
  • You are above the age of 18 years
  • You have hollow areas under your eyes
  • You have fine lines around your lips (Smoker’s Lines)
  • You have Crow’s Feet or related facial imperfections
  • You have realistic expectations about the outcome of this procedure

When you visit Dr. Balinger for your first Belotero® in Houston TX consultation, the surgeon will listen to you and examine your problem areas before letting you know whether this dermal filler is for you. Since Belotero® is an individualized treatment, Dr. Christopher recommends that you have this treatment out of your own choice, not because someone else wants you to.

How Does Belotero® Work

Our bodies naturally lose hyaluronic acid as we age. This in turn results in the loss of volume and development of wrinkles and facial lines. When Belotero® is injected into the skin, it supplies hyaluronic acid to the dermal layers, instantly creating volume and smoothing away wrinkles. It also promotes the production of collagen in the body, further helping improve the treatment area in the coming months. Individual results may vary, but a single Belotero® injection usually lasts for around 6 months.

Preparation and Procedure

Dr. Balinger asks that patients stop taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (such as Advil, ibuprofen, Motrin, aspirin, Aleve, etc) about five days before their Houston TX Belotero® injections. This is important to reduce the risk of small bruises at the treatment site. You should also stop drinking and smoking at least a week before your treatment. Belotero® injections are administered in Dr. Balinger’s minor procedures room. The surgeon or injection specialist will start by carefully marking the treatment areas. A topical or local anesthetic may be used in order to numb the injection sites and ensure the patient’s comfort. Once this is done, injections will be administered as required using a fine-gauge needle. The site will then be massaged to ensure even distribution of the injected dermal filler. This procedure takes about 30 minutes to complete and can easily be performed during your lunch break. You will be able to resume routine activities immediately after the treatment is complete. Swelling and bruising in the treatment area is typical. You will be asked to avoid physically taxing activities, alcohol, NSAIDs, and prolonged sun exposure for at least one day following Belotero® balance dermal filler treatment. Results are usually apparent for up to six months or more. You will need a re-touch injection in order to maintain the result of your treatment.

Plan your Belotero® in Houston TX

The cost of Belotero® injections will vary based on the specifics of your treatment. During your visit to Dr. Balinger’s office, the surgeon will provide a cost estimate based on a personalized treatment plan developed for you. Health insurers typically do not cover the cost of Belotero® because it is considered to be an elective cosmetic procedure. However, the surgeon offers financing options for his patients in Houston, Conroe, and surrounding TX areas.

  • Treatment takes 15 minutes in most cases

How is Belotero® performed?

Belotero® injections are performed with a very thin needle to deposit the gel at several points along the wrinkle. Dr. Balinger uses this technique to ensure an even and consistent improvement that looks completely natural. The gel is not injected very deep into the skin, so you should feel comfortable during the procedure. If you do have any discomfort, we can use a topical anesthesia to numb the area. The gel formula immediately lifts the skin, and the hyaluronic acid can take up to one week to start working.

What is recovery like after Belotero®?

After your Belotero® injections, you can return to your normal schedule. Downtime is not required. You may have some localized swelling, bruising, pinpoint bleeding, and tenderness at each injection site for the first two to three days. Cold compresses can be used for the discomfort, and you can camouflage the bruising with makeup after two or three hours. Use a gentle touch when applying makeup.

How long will Belotero® results last?

Your body will break down the hyaluronic acid that is deposited into the skin via Belotero® injections, and the timeline for this process varies significantly from patient to patient. On average, the results of Belotero® injections last six to 18 months. You can schedule follow-up appointments with Dr. Balinger to have him determine when you need subsequent Belotero® injections to maintain the results.
